Feeling Blah

I have just been feeling so down lately. I am not sure what is going on. I cry at the drop of a hat about anything and everything. Yes, truthfully, I do know what is wrong. I am just very overwhelmed with life right now. Here are just a few things on my mind. Ryan getting ready to graduate high school and will be leaving for college soon, his graduation get together we are having for him, my job, doing with out a pay check in the summer, my son and his girlfriend, my daughter and her boyfriend, my husband working 2 jobs, family I don't really speak to, my youngest feeling I don't spend enough time with her, my car, our finances. I want so much to be a good wife, mother, and friend. I could just go on and on. I have been praying about it and I am really trying to lift all this to the Lord. I just don't know what to do to get the blah, overwhelmed feeling to go away. If you have any suggestions or scriptures that would help me through this please let me know.

Prom 2010

Ryan had prom this weekend. This is him and Emily his girl friend walking into prom.

Prom of course is huge in our little town. There is a big walk in where the town comes and sees all the kids go into Prom. It is pretty wonderful the way people come together to set it all up. It is the Junior class that is responsible for prom and walk in. It is such a big and wonderful thing.

Don't they look great

The kids meet on the town square for pictures

So pretty and so handsome
They attended after prom, after the prom of course, and Ryan won a Tom Tom, gift certificate and money. They always have pretty good gifts to give out and fun games to play. Emily does not attend the school so she was not eligible to win. This weekend it is Emily's school prom so they get to do it again. My baby boy is almost done with his senior year. Wow I can not believe it.

Ticket

Oh no Alyssa! Alyssa came home Thursday from college for the night. She left around 5:00 p.m. Friday. As she was walking out I say the same things I always do: I love you, call me when you get there, drive safe, don't get any tickets. Standard mom things that I know she gets so tired of hearing. She must have gone to get gas or go to Walmart before she left and decided to go a different way. She has not been that way since she graduated from high school 2 years ago. Just no reason usually to take that road but she thought she would this time because it will take you to the highway. Well I never thought to tell her about a new stop sign they put in and she of course did not see it. Ran right through it and was pulled over. Darn it!! She did tell the police officer she has not been this way in a few years but he did not care, gave her the ticket any way. Her dad and I have told her and our son they are giving a lot of tickets in this small town because they have bought new police cars and just built a new Justice Center. It has been in the paper that tickets are way way up. Especially compared to towns twice the size of ours. She did run the stop sign so she does deserve the ticket it is just something we really can not afford right now.

Well the 2nd half of the story is this is the same police officer gives tons of tickets in that same place. That is the rumor anyway when we talk to people in town about what happen to her. And of course who do I see sitting in the area when I went to the High School on Saturday to see all the prom stuff. That same police officer. I really do think that is just his only job to sit in that one area and see how many people he can catch running the stop sign that is there but hard to see.

She was so upset about it but her daddy told her there is nothing you can do now so just drive safe. Another learning experience for the books. Ugh

Thankful Thursday April 15

Thankful Thursday is being hosted by Lynn. She has a great story about a neighbor that I think a lot of us can relate to. Stop by her blog Spiritually Unequal Marriage to read it.

It has been a busy week and as I sat down at my computer thinking about Thankful Thursday I came up with several things I am thankful for. A few are:

  • The awesome weather we are having. It has definitely changed my mood.

  • My garden is starting to sprout. I can not wait for a fresh garden salad.

  • My college girl coming home for a couple of days. Yea!!

  • The love of my hardworking husband. Never ever complains.

  • My son staying on the right track. Some parents have so much heartache.

  • My youngest daughter and her old sole. Love that about her.

Hope you have a wonderful Thursday. What has God given you to be Thankful for? I bet there are a lot of things.

Ryan and college

Well Ryan is all enrolled at Emporia State. We went to this thing they call SWARM. They helped him pick his classes and explained exactly what he would need to graduate. They separate the kids and the parents. They say this is the first step to letting the kids figure things out on their own and to prove to the parents they really can do it. With the parents they talk about the cost of everything, when things need to be turned in etc. They also show a little movie clip about kids going off to school. It was so hard for me not to cry in front of all those people in the room. My lip was quivering and everything. You would think after being through this with Alyssa it would be a little easier for me. That is not the case at all. Now we have approximately 4 months to prepare things and myself. I pray that is long enough.

Angles

Angels, Angels, Angels

I love Angels. I have several around our house. The ones I have all look so different. I often wonder what Gods angels look like? Do they really have wings? Do they glow or do they look like a regular person? I ask God so very often to put his Angels around my husband, children, family members and friends. I would love to be one of Gods Angels. I wonder how I can get that job? Wouldn't it be great to help people out and do good all the time? I think it would be.

Garden Time

Garden Time!!

I do not have a picture yet but I got a start on our garden this weekend. I planted two kinds of lettuce, spinach, onions. I also transplanted some strawberries. Last year we had so much it was wonderful. I hope it does just as well this year. There is just nothing better than fresh vegetables from your own garden. Later I hope to plant tomato's, peppers, jalapenos, green beans and a few herbs. I was talking to my grandfather on the phone this weekend and he said he has talked to a lot of people putting in gardens now. A sign of the times he says. But I think it is wonderful that people are getting back to the simple things in life. Those are usually the most wonderful. Have a wonderful Monday.

Wonderful sounds

Thankful Thursday

Today Lynn at Spiritually Unequal Marriage is hosting Thankful Thursday. Mine is pretty simple this week. We finally have beautiful weather here so of course I am thanking God for the great weather. As my windows are open and I hear all the children laughing, bouncing balls, explaining rules to new games I am thankful I can hear all those joyous sounds. How often we take the sounds around us for granted. How different our world would be if we could not hear all the wonderful sounds God has put in the world. Tune in and really listen.
