Mother In Law

Six years ago I received a phone call from my husband while I was attending an In-Service for school.  It was one of those calls you never forget.  I remember the sound of his voice just like it happened yesterday.  He told me my mother-in-law had been life flighted to a hospital.  She was having chest pains.  I told him I was on my way home and would be there soon.  The friend I was with tried to comfort me and drove as fast as she could.  When I got home we had things to figure out.  My husband was on the phone trying to figure out all that was going on.  He said he had talked to mom as she was getting on the helicopter and she said I am fine.  Don't worry.  The hospital she was at was 3 1/2 hours from our house so we packed up and left.  When we got there the doctor said there was nothing he could do.  She was on life support already.  I had to call my oldest who was 14 at the time and was on vacation with a friend  in Florida. That was the hardest thing in the world not be able to hold her and comfort her as she lay sobbing on the floor.  The friends mom she was with did her best but you know it is not the same.  They got her on the first flight they could back home but by the time she got there Grandma was gone.  She was so beside her self.  Her and Grandma had a deep and close relationship.   I think to this day Alyssa still gets mad at herself for being on that trip.  Even when you explain no one could have ever known this would happen.  I miss my mother-in-law so much. Words can not even explain.  She is the one who taught me a lot about cooking, taking care of my babies and just about having fun with family.  I miss her with all my heart and still think of her almost every day.  I think about how proud she would be of her grandchildren and just about all the great family moments.  I struggle with why God took such a wonderful person from our lives.  But I pray about it everyday and ask for wisdom even after 6 years.  I also thank God for the time I had with her and all that I learned from her. I need her and miss her more than ever.  I know I was so lucky to have a great mother-in-law.  A lot of women do not have that.  I hope you can have a good relationships with your mother-in-law.  There is a lot you can learn from them.

Miss you so much mom.

Blessings

Crystal

  4. Thanks for sharing that. That is so awesome that you were able to have that relationship with her. I often think of my Father who passed away 4 years ago and how proud he would be of his grandkids also. I often catch myself starting to cry too. Thanks for posting that.
