Snow Day Thursday :)

Today we have another snow day.  Yea, I am so excited.  I slept in until 6:30.  I know that is not late but for my body that is late. I got up did my James study that I am doing with some of my Good Morning Girls.  It is quite an eye opener for me.  I have learned that when things get hard I really need to stop acting like a baby.  I need to put a smile on and see where God leads me.  I know it is a lot easier to type that then it is to do.  I also have learned that if I ask God for something then I need to believe he will provide.  I should never ever doubt he wants what is best for me.  That is all a lot to learn in just versers 1-8.

As I sit here in the quite of my house and look outside at the winter wonderland we are living in I think how lucky I am to be in my cozy home with heat, lights, tons of food (I have been working on my stockpiles) and most of my family home.  Hubby is off today also.  He is sleeping in today which he so much deserves.  I think sometimes I am so busy with the kids, yes even when they are away at college they call everyday to talk and ask for advice or even what should I make for dinner, any ideas.   My hubby gets pushed to the end of the line. So I have deceided to partipate in  Courtney's challenge.

It is the Be My Valentine Marrage Challenge: Each week the challege will be to praise, encourage, inspire, admire, build up, thank and apprieciate my husband.

It is just what I need and I thought maybe some of you out there would like to particpate also.  God has given us strong, loving and kind husbands lets show them how much we apprieciate all they do for our families.

Courtney my 14 year old and I will start our Passport to Purity class at church tomorrow night.  It is just Friday evening and Saturday morning. I will let you know how it goes and what we have learned.  I think it will be a wonderful class for her as next year she will be starting high school.

I have also started a book call Crazy Love.  I will let you know what I think when I am done.  I think it might be an eye opener.

Hope you find beauty in your Thursday.

Snow Days

Image found here

We woke up yesterday morning to a snow day.  Yea!! So this is what we did  with some of our day. Worked on my scarf so maybe I can wear it before winter is over.  I am making it big and bulky.  It will be perfect for those freezing cold days I walk to work.  Remember I walk everyday to work.  This is what I have so far.

I have put together my binder for my study of James with the Good Morning Girls Club.  I am so excited about getting started next week.

I made some cinnamon bread and regular white bread with the help of my new Kitchen Aid Mixer.  Man, I love that thing.  I can not believe how much easier it seems to make things for me.  This is my first attempt at bread that was not made in a bread machine.  Not to bad looken. Oh it tastes so good.

Courtney and her best friend strung some popcorn for the birds and squirrels.  We thought they would enjoy the treat.

Our cat thought he needed his share.

Then they went outside for at least a couple of hours.  I took pictures of some kind of snow sculptor they made.  They were not sure what it was either.  I don't think they were to happy when our dog thought it was something that looked good to hike his leg on.  We just laughed and laughed though.

For dinner I made a wonderful Cheesy Enchilada Soup by Paula Deen.  There is nothing better on a cold, snowy day than soup and homemade bread.  Yum, Yum.

Other than doing a little vacuuming.  We took the day and just enjoyed it.  These days are such a blessing when we get them.  What would have made it absolutely perfect is my husband and  two college kids being home.  And today we have another snow day!!!  Two days what a double blessing. :)

Hope you enjoy your Tuesday.

1/1/11

Hello, HAPPY HOME AND HEART friends. HAPPY 2011!!!! Boy it has been a long time since I have written.  We have been busy but I have also been trying to keep things relaxing in our home.  My college babies are home so there is a lot more action here.  Friends, girl friend, boy friend in and out.  A lot more food needing to be made with my college boy home.  I just can not keep up with his tummy or his time schedule.  But I am giving it a try.  And to help me with that you will never guess what my dear, sweet, hubby surprised me with this Christmas.  Now, I do remember posting we never buy each other gifts, it just is not in the budget and we would rather spend it on the cheenas (as my husbands grandma would say.)  But he must have been saving some of his refereeing money to buy this for me.  I have wanted it for so, so long.  And here it is.

I know, I know some women would find that just appalling. They would rather have diamonds or something.  But it is just what I wanted. I love, love, love it. I try to think of things I can make just to use it.  I am going to gain more weight for sure if I keep this up.  I am going to have to start walking my dog Ruben more.  See my pretty apron in the back ground that was given to me by my blogger friend Daniele?   I love to wear it.

Before Christmas I entered a giveaway at a blog I love to visit. It is Grandma Becky.  She has beautiful pictures on her blog of places I will probably not see.  Well, I won a calendar with beautiful pictures in it and a beautiful pashmina shawl.  I wore it the other night when my husband took me out for dinner. I really do not like pictures of my self but here is one since I told her I would put one on.  Ugh!!!!

I have also decided to start off my year by participating in Good Morning Girls.  You can click on the link to find out more about it but I am so excited to be participating.  I think it will just be wonderful to have some one help keep me on track and make new friends.  I will let you know how it goes.

I am not really going to make any new years resolutions this year.  I think I am just going to keep trying to be a Proverbs 31 women.  And keep guiding my girls to be the same.  As well as my son to grow and be the best man/husband/daddy he can be some day.
