Waves of Beautiful Snow

The sky is blue and the sun is finally shining. The snow looks so bright in the sunshine. For family in warm places that was the best picture of the snow I could get, it is starting to look a little dirty. Well Alyssa went back to Emporia for a few days. She has plans with her college friends for New Years and she has a wedding to attend. She still does not have any heat in her apartment. It has been 4 days now. She says it is 50 degrees in there. Just way to cold to stay there so she is going to stay with a friend. The maintenance man said it won't be fixed until Monday. Poor Alyssa. Thank goodnes for friends. Ryan and Emily are hanging out at the house with me today. They say they are going to build a snow man in a little bit. Courtney is staying with Grandpa Schultz for a few days. She loves staying on the farm with him and all the cows and land. She loves bottle feeding the calf Joey. She also gets to see her cousins. I am glad she likes to go but I sure miss her when she is gone. Mike and I plan to go to a friends house tonight just for a bit. We have not seen "The Gang" for bit. Hope you have a fun and safe night.

What I am Thankful for 2009

What I am Thankful For:

As we say goodbye to 2009 I hope you take time to reflect on all the things you are thankful for. Here are a few of mine:

1. My wonderful husband. Without him I would not have all that I do. He is always there when I need him.

2. Alyssa our smart, beautiful oldest daughter. She is growing up and finding her way at college. She always makes time for her family.

3. The most handsome 17 year old young man on earth. Our son Ryan. He has the most giving heart. (I think he gets that from his dad).

4. My caring, responsible youngest daughter. I love that she has a kind spirit. She gives everything her all.

5. I am so thankful Mike and I have jobs. There are so many people out there who are looking.

6. Extended family. We have some great family.

7 Our friends. They are all pretty great.

8. I have to mention Carole and Diane. The two girlfriends I can always go to.

9. A house and plenty of food. We are so lucky.

10. Just in general the wonderful life that I have.

Well there are a few of mine. What are yours?

Tackle it Tuesday

Well today was pretty uneventful. The dog and I started our day out with an icy, snowy walk. I only fell once and of course I looked around to make sure no one was looking. Alyssa is back from Emporia. She has to work tonight. A wonderful friend of mine cut and put a little bit of red in the girls hair. I will try to have a picture tomorrow. It looks cute. Ryan and Emily went to the city to do a little shopping. So, for my Tackle it Tuesday I went through my freezers and did a freezer inventory. We could probably go a couple of weeks without going to the store. I would need to go for eggs, milk and fruit of course. So, one of my goals this year is to keep track of the food we have in the freezer and try to make sure I use all of it. Some times I tend to let things get freezer burned and have to throw them away. I also need to figure out how much I plan to spend on groceries every week and stick to that budget. Remember I pretty much feed two households because I always try to buy food for Alyssa to have at her apartment at College. Do you have food goals for the year? Let me know what they are, I would love to hear other ideas. It is suppose to snow again tomorrow. Ugh. I will try to take a picture if it does for those family members who don't always get to see snow.

My First Blog

Well this is the first time to write on my blog. I am pretty excited. I have set this up in hopes to stay in contact with friends and family better. I have always been really bad about letting family know what is going on in our lives, especially with what the kids are up to. So here we go. Mike went back to work today after a nice Christmas break. I kind of feel bad I do not have to go back to school until January 5th. I am going to take down all the Christmas stuff today. I love putting it up but don't like to take it down. I am sure most of you are like that. We had a wonderful Christmas and received wonderful gifts from all the family. Thanks so much for every thing. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Courtney had a friend stay the night last night. I still heard them giggling about 1:00 a.m. I know they won't be up for a while. Alyssa has to go back to Emporia for the night. She has to cheer at a basketball game but since she is not dancing we are not going with her. She also is going to stay the night at her apartment so she won't have to drive back home at night and spend some time with one of her friends there. She said they plan to go sledding. She is funny. For those of you that don't know we have a lot of snow on the ground. Ryan, well I have no idea what his plans are today. Put away his laundry ha ha. Well I guess that is all for now. I hope you will visit everyday. I am really going to try to keep it updated. Have a wonderful Monday.
